Diazolidinyl Urea is white or off-white powder, soluble in water, very low solubility in oil; stable at room temperature, incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. It belongs to the formaldehyde releaser class of compounds, and will slowly decompose and release formaldehyde in cosmetics and other systems, thus playing an antibacterial role. It is a common cosmetic preservative.
