2-Azobisisobutyronitrile AIBN is an azo-compound and is widely used as afree radical initiator. AlBN can be used as an initiator in the synthesis ofhighly cross-linked Poly(divinylbenzene) (PDVB) polymers. lt also can beused as an initiator in the polymerization process of 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA).
AlBN is both a nitrile and azo compound.Used as a polymerization initiatorfree radical generator, as a catalyst in vinyl polymerizations, asa blowing agent for elastomers and plastics.Used as a polymerization initiator for monomers such as polyvinyl chloridepolyvinyl alcohol, polystyrene, polyacrylonitrile, etc., it can also be used asvulcanizing agent, pesticide and intermediate in organic.
