4,4'-Bis(chloromethyl)biphenyl is a colorless crystal or white crystalline powder that is water-, moisture- and heat-resistant. It is virtually insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and benzene. Mainly used as synthesis intermediate of polymer materials, it can be used to synthesize polycarbonate, polyimide, polyurethane and other polymer materials, which are widely used in plastics, fibers and coatings.

1. 4,4'-Bis(chloromethyl)biphenyl is a key intermediate in the synthesis of stilbene biphenyl-based fluorescent whiteners CBS-127 and CBS-X, which are widely used in the whitening of plastics, fibers, and coatings, and are also used in detergents in large quantities.
2. It can be used as monomer to synthesize high-performance resin, which can be used in the field of electronic chemicals.
