Triphenyl phosphate is a white, odorless crystalline powder with slight deliquescent properties. Insoluble in water, hydrolyzed easily when wet to generate free phenol, soluble in alcohol, ether, benzene and acetone and other organic solvents.TPP is mainly used as a flame retardant plasticizer for cellulose resin, vinyl resin, natural rubber and synthetic rubber. It can also be used as a flame retardant plasticizer for triacetin thin esters and films, rigid polyurethane foams, phenolic resins, and engineering plastics such as PPO.
