Perchlorethylene (PCE) is colourless transparent liquid with an ether-like odour. Can dissolve many substances (e.g. rubber, resin, fat, AICl3, S, I2, HgCI2). Decomposes to trichloroacetaldehyde and phosgene in the presence of light, water and oxygen for a long time, corrosive to metals.
