4-Hydroxy TEMPO is a stable nitrogen-oxygen radical with redox activity, which can be used as free radical trapping agent and electron transfer reagent. Tempol can act as a catalyst or oxidizing agent in some chemical reactions and participate in the redox process, and it shows different chemical activities under different reaction conditions.
Applications of 4-Hydroxy TEMPO：
1. Chemical industry: used as catalyst for the oxidation of alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes or ketones. It can also be used to prepare polymer catalyst system based on TEMPO.
2. Biomedical field: 4-Hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidinooxy is a superoxide scavenger with neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. It can be used as a spin-labeling reagent for the study of biological compounds and polymers, and can also be used to measure the generation of reactive oxygen species in the myocardium.
