Potassium dodecyl sulfate is generally a colorless or light yellow powder or crystalline solid; it is soluble in water and alcohol solvents, but less soluble in non-polar solvents; PDS is relatively stable at room temperature, but is susceptible to moisture and decomposition. Potassium dodecyl sulfate has good surface activity, commonly used in the manufacture of detergents, cleaners, shampoos and other daily necessities, potassium lauryl sulfate can also be used as a catalyst or auxiliary agent for certain chemical reactions.
