What is Monolaurin CAS 142-18-7 ?
Monolaurin, also known as Glycerol monolaurate (GML), is a lipophilic nonionic surfactant and a compound naturally found in some plants. After extraction, it is often added to food, daily necessities or cosmetics as a bactericide and anti-inflammatory agent.
Applications:
Food Grade
1. Monolaurin is used as emulsifier, which can make the oil phase and water phase in food mix evenly and prevent stratification, commonly used in bread, cake, ice cream and other products.
2. Used as preservative, it has inhibitory effect on many bacteria, molds and yeasts, it can prolong the shelf life of food, used in meat products, dairy products, fruits and vegetables.
Pharmaceutical grade
GML is used as drug carrier to help drugs dissolve and absorb better.
Cosmetic grade
1. Glycerol Monolaurate is used as emulsifier to stabilize the mixing of water and oil in cosmetics to form a uniform emulsion.
2. Used as antimicrobial agent to prevent cosmetics from microbial contamination and prolong the shelf life of the products.
