Pharmacological effects of Tilmicosin
Pharmacodynamics tilmicosin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic for animals. Strong to mycoplasma, antibacterial effect is similar to tylosin, sensitive gram-positive bacteria are staphylococcus aureus, pneumococcus, streptococcus, charcoal bacillus, bacillus pigmentosus, listeria, etc. Sensitive gram-negative bacteria are bacillus jelosus, meningitis diphtheriae, bacillus and so on. Activity against Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella and Mycoplasma animalis is stronger than tylosin. 95% of the hemolytic Pasteurella strains are sensitive to this product.

How is Tilmicosin administered?

Cattle and sheep: Subcutaneous injection: per 1kg body weight 0.033ml. only 1 injection.

 

Adverse effects
The toxic effects on animals are mainly cardiovascular system, which can cause tachycardia and reduced contractility. Cattle can be killed by a single intravenous injection of 5mg/kg. Pigs, primates and horses are also lethal when injected intravenously. 50mg/kg subcutaneous injection in cattle can cause myocardial toxicity and 150mg/kg can be fatal.
