N-butanol (also known as normal butanol or n-butyl alcohol) is a primary alcohol with the molecular formula C₄H₁₀O. It is a colourless liquid with medium volatility and a characteristic banana-like odour. N-butanol has limited miscibility with water, but is easily soluble in common solvents such as ethers, alcohols, glycols, and hydrocarbons. This highly flammable solvent has a flash point of around 35°C.
