CAS 123-86-4 Butyl acetate is a synthetic fragrance ester of the carboxylic acid. It is a colourless, transparent liquid with a strong, fruity aroma. It is miscible with ethanol and ether in any proportion, soluble in most organic solvents and slightly soluble in water with a solubility of 0.05 g. Its vapour has a weak anaesthetic effect and the permissible air concentration according to Chemicalbook is 0.2 g/l. This product has a strong fruity aroma. When diluted, it has a pleasant aroma similar to pineapple or banana, but it is not very persistent. It occurs naturally in many vegetables, fruits, and berries. Butyl acetate is not widely used in everyday flavourings and is mainly used in the formulation of edible flavourings.
