Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) also known as methyl sulfoxide, with CAS No.67-68-5, is an organosulfur compound with the formula (CH3)2S=O. This colorless liquid is the sulfoxide most widely used commercially.
Dimethyl sulfoxide (CAS 67-68-5) is not a surfactant. A surfactant reduces surface tension and helps mix oil and water. While DMSO is an excellent solvent that mixes with both oil and water, it does not act as a true surfactant.
