What is Avermectin?
Avermectin is within the family of medicines called anthelmintics. It is derived from Streptomyces avermitilis fermented products. Avermectin works by inhibiting the function of aspects of the nervous system within the parasite, leading to their paralysis and eventual death.
What is the use of avermectin insecticide?
Avermectin Transdermal Solution is indicated for the treatment and prevention of nematodes such as grubs, sucking lice, and mange mites. Depending on the infection, it may be necessary to combine this external treatment with an internal dewormer.
It's used to treat certain parasitic infections, such as
- gastrointestinal roundworms (adults and 4th stage larva)
- lungworms (adults and 4th stage larva)
- cattle grubs (parasitic stages)
- sucking lice
- mites.
