What is ethyl acetate used for?

1. Ethyl acetate: a fast-drying, solvent with excellent dissolving power, widely used in coatings, spray paints, inks, adhesives, artificial leather and nitrocellulose. Also used to dissolve nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, gasified rubber, vinyl resin, ethylene cellulose ester, cellulose acetate butyl and synthetic rubber, as well as liquid nitrocellulose ink for copiers and as a spray paint thinner.

2. Ethyl acetate: a flavour enhancer in perfumes, and in magnolia, ylang-ylang, osmanthus, ear grass floral water and fruity fragrances. An edible spice and fragrance ingredient, and used in brewing vinegar, in edible flavors like cherries, peaches, apricots, grapes, raspberries, bananas, raw pears, pineapples, lemons and melons, and in wine, brandy, whiskey, rum, rice wine and white wine.

3. Ethyl acetate is also used in the synthesis of certain dyes and pharmaceutical intermediates. It can be used to extract special modified alcohols, for pharmaceutical processes, and for organic acids. In the electronics industry, it can be used as a degreasing agent for cleaning purposes. In the textile industry, it is used as a cleaning agent.
