Sorbitol Solution 70% can be used as an excipient, humectant, and antifreeze agent in toothpaste. Addition levels of up to 25-30% can maintain lubricity, good color, and a pleasant mouthfeel. It can also be used as an anti-drying agent in cosmetics (replacing glycerin, hence the name "surrogate glycerin").
