What Is Para-xylene (PX)?
CAS 106-42-3 Para-Xylene (PX) is a colorless, flammable aromatic hydrocarbon liquid and a critical building-block chemical primarily used to produce purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and dimethyl terephthalate (DMT). These are key raw materials for manufacturing polyester fibers, PET resins, plastic bottles, and clothing.

What is the function of Para-xylene (PX)?
Feedstock for PET and polyester: The primary role of Para-xylene PX is to undergo oxidation to form PTA and DMT, the fundamental building blocks of polyester fibres, films and PET plastic resins.
PET production: PET, which is derived from P-Xylene based PTA, is a key ingredient in the production of lightweight, durable plastic containers and packaging materials.
Textile and clothing manufacturing: A significant proportion of polyester derived from para-xylene is used for clothing, carpets and home furnishings.
Chemical intermediate: It is also used as an intermediate in the production of agricultural chemicals.
