Uses
- Glass industry: Sodium carbonate is an important raw material for glass production, which can lower the melting point of glass and improve the transparency, strength and chemical stability of glass.
- Chemical raw materials: Used in the production of various sodium salts, metal carbonates, bleach, detergents, catalysts and so on.
- Metallurgical industry: It is used in the process of ore dressing, steel making, etc. It can be used as flux to help remove impurities in the ore.
- Food industry: Sodium carbonate can be used as food additives to neutralise acidic substances, adjust pH value, and as a bulking agent. For example, when making pasta, it can make pasta more fluffy and tasty.
