DMF applications

In film applications, N,N-Dimethylformamide DMF is the preferred solvent for cast polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film extrusion. It can be blended with other solvents to flexibly control film properties (transparency, granular texture, or orange peel effect). Its homologue, dimethylacetamide (DMAC), shares similar properties with DMF. Due to its organic nature, excellent solubility, and effective blending capabilities, dimethylformamide is widely used in the production of various film materials.
When used as a co-solvent, DMF's strong dissolving power can dissolve difficult-to-dissolve substances while enhancing ink adhesion on PVC films.

Its aqueous solution serves concurrently as both a polymerization medium and a spinning/casting medium, eliminating the polymer separation step required in non-DMF aqueous systems.
