Effects of Azoxystrobin and Fludioxonil on Crops
Basic Information
Both azoxystrobin and flucyclostrobin are fungicides widely used in agriculture. They each have unique mechanisms of action and effects, but are often used in combination in crop disease control to improve control effects and delay the development of drug resistance.
Azoxystrobin: It is a methoxyacrylate fungicide with high efficiency and broad spectrum. It has good activity against almost all fungal diseases (Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, Mastozotocin and Deuteromycota) such as powdery mildew, rust, glume blight, web blotch, downy mildew, rice blast, etc. It can be used for stem and leaf spraying, seed treatment, and soil treatment. It is mainly used for grains, rice, peanuts, grapes, potatoes, fruit trees, vegetables, coffee, lawns, etc.
Fludioxoni:A novel broad-spectrum, non-systemic pyrrole fungicide that inhibits the transfer of glucose phosphorylation and the growth of fungal mycelium, ultimately leading to the death of pathogens. It is used for foliar treatment of wheat, rapeseed, rice, vegetables, lawns, and ornamental crops to prevent and control Fusarium spp., wheat net black rot, and damping-off fungi, and has a special effect on gray mold; it is used for treating cereal and non-cereal seeds to prevent and control seed-borne and soil-borne pathogens, such as Alternaria, Ascochyta, Fusarium, Helminthosporium, and Penicillium. It is safe for the next crop and has no phytotoxicity.
Advantages comparison
Azoxystrobin:
1. Effective against a variety of pathogens (such as fungi and bacteria), widely used to prevent and treat downy mildew, powdery mildew, rust and other diseases.
2. It is systemic and can be transmitted to various parts of the plant through plant transpiration to provide comprehensive protection.
3. It is safe for crops and suitable for a variety of crops such as rice, wheat, grapes, etc.
Fluclostrobin:
1. Effective against a variety of fungal diseases, especially in the prevention and treatment of fusarium head blight, powdery mildew, brown spot disease and other aspects.
2. It has strong protection, treatment and eradication effects.
3. It is relatively safe for the environment and has a short residual period.
Combined use
Azoxystrobin and fluclostrobin have different mechanisms of action. Combined use can target different physiological processes of pathogens and improve the overall control effect.
1. Delay the development of drug resistance: Because the two have different mechanisms of action, combined use can reduce the risk of pathogens developing resistance to a single fungicide and help extend the service life of fungicides.
2. Broad-spectrum control: Azoxystrobin and fluclostrobin are effective against different types of pathogens respectively. Combined use can cover a wider spectrum of diseases and improve the overall health level of crops.
3. Reduce the amount of pesticides used: Through synergistic effects, combined use can reduce the amount of each fungicide to a certain extent, thereby reducing pesticide residues and the impact on the environment.
Real Case:Bipolaris sorokiniana
Mr. Ben in Kansas is a farmer who can harvest about 3.68 million tons of wheat every year. In early 2022, his wheat field was infected with wheat net bipolaris sorokiniana. Black spots appeared on the entire wheat ear, the cob and spikelets gradually turned black, and the entire ear gradually died, causing a sharp drop in wheat yields to only one-third of other years. Subsequently, Mr. Ben contacted the Gnee Group and purchased a mixed fungicide of azoxystrobin and fludioxonil. After using it, Mr. Ben's wheat field returned to normal yield.
