What is Tilmicosin Injection?

Tilmicosin Injection is an antibiotic drug used to treat various infections in cattle, sheep and other animals. It is used for the treatment of respiratory infections caused by sensitive microorganisms, mastitis, foot rot in sheep, and interphalangeal necrotizing mycobacteriosis (foot dermatitis).
Tilmicosin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic. It acts by inhibiting protein synthesis. Tilmicosin has broad-spectrum activity against Mycoplasma and Gram-positive bacteria (e.g., Staphylococcus) as well as Gram-negative bacteria.

Indications of Tilmicosin Injection for Cattle and Sheep

 

1.Respiratory diseases: such as bovine pneumonia, sheep pneumonia, bronchitis and so on.
2.Mycoplasma infections: it has remarkable efficacy in treating respiratory infections caused by Mycoplasma bovis in cattle and sheep.
3.Bacterial infections: it can treat infections caused by bacteria such as Bartonella, Streptococcus and bronchial septicemia.
4.Mastitis: can be used to prevent and treat bacterial mastitis in cattles.

Usage and Dosage of Tilmicosin Injection

 

Subcutaneous injection;
Cattle pneumonia: 1ml per 30kg body weight (10mg/kg)
Cattle interdigital necrobacillosis: 0.5ml per 30kg body weight (5mg/kg)
Sheep pneumonia and mastitis: 1ml per 30kg body weight (10mg/kg)
Sheep footrot: 0.5ml per 30kg body weight (5mg/kg)

 

Precautions of Tilmicosin Injection

Contraindicated in animals allergic to macrolides.
Cattle and sheep should avoid concurrent use with other macrolides during use to avoid drug interactions.
Not recommended for use in pregnant or lactating cattle or sheep.
