What is 1,3-Propanediol CAS 504-63-2?
1,3-Propanediol, also known as propylene glycol, is a colorless, viscous liquid that is soluble in water and many organic solvents at room temperature; it has good solubility and can dissolve many organic and inorganic substances. It is a diol with the typical reactions of alcohols, such as esterification by anhydrides, ester exchange and acylation, and can also be reduced to propylene glycol.1,3-Propanediol is used as a plasticizer in coatings and inks, and is also used in the manufacture of polyester resins, polyurethanes and unsaturated polyesters.
Applications：
1.Polymer Industry: 1,3-Propanediol is an important monomer for the production of polyesters, such as polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT). PTT has excellent properties like good elasticity, stain resistance, and low moisture absorption, and is used in textiles, carpets, and engineering plastics.
