Dipropylene Glycol is a by-product in the production of propylene glycol, which is produced by hydrolyzing propylene oxide with excess water under high temperature and pressure. Regular grade dipropylene glycol is a distillate containing more than 99% dipropylene glycol.
Dipropylene glycol(DPG) is a colorless, essentially odorless, water-soluble and moderately viscous hygroscopic liquid with low vapor pressure and toxicity, and is a mixture of several structural isomers.
99.5% Dipropylene glycol(DPG) uses
-Esterification reaction with benzoic acid to produce dipropylene glycol dibenzoate, used as plasticizer.
-As a reactant for unsaturated polyester resin, it can increase the flexibility and hydrolytic stability of the finished resin.
-Esterification reaction with acrylic acid to form dipropylene glycol diacrylate, used in radiation curing resin formulation.
-Used to increase the flexibility of dicyclopentadiene unsaturated polyester resin systems.
-Can be used as a starting agent in the synthesis of polyurethane polyols and as a polyol for polyurethane rigid foams.
