Colorless, low-viscosity liquid with a terpene-like odor. Slightly soluble in water. It is miscible with many organic solvents and gasoline. Form azeotrope with some polar solvents such as water, methanol, ethanol, etc. It has a mild anesthetic effect.
Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE) It is a high octane number (research octane number 117) gasoline additive, the chemical oxygen content is much lower than that of methanol, which is conducive to warming the car and saving fuel, and the latent heat of evaporation is low, which is beneficial to cold start, and is often used in the blending of unleaded gasoline and low-lead oil. It can also be re-cracked into isobutylene as a raw material for rubber and other chemical products.
