Appearance: colorless liquid
Colorless, low-viscosity liquid with a terpene-like odor. Slightly soluble in water. It is miscible with many organic solvents. Form azeotrope with some polar solvents such as water, methanol, ethanol, etc. It has a mild anesthetic effect.
Application:
- Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE) It is a high octane number (research octane number 117) gasoline additive, the chemical oxygen content is much lower than that of methanol, which is conducive to warming the car and saving fuel, and the latent heat of evaporation is low, which is beneficial to cold start, and is often used in the blending of unleaded gasoline and low-lead oil. It can also be re-cracked into isobutylene as a raw material for rubber and other chemical products.
- MTBE used as a gasoline additive to increase the octane number, and can also be cracked to produce isobutlene, used as a gasolin e additive, with excellent anti-knock properties. It has good miscibility with gasoline, little water absorption ,and no pollution to the environment. As a raw material for organic synthesis, high-purity isobutylen e can be produced.
