What is Azobis(2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile),ABVN?
2,2'-Azobis(2,4-dimethyl)valeronitrile is soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, toluene, acetone and insoluble in water. Stable at room temperature, but when heated to the decomposition temperature will decompose and produce free radicals. It may explode under certain conditions and can react with many substances (e.g. acids, aldehydes, amides and strong oxidizing or reducing agents) to produce toxic or flammable gases.
ABVN can be used as initiator for polymerization of polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, polymethyl methacrylate and other polymer compounds, and as foaming agent for plastics and rubber.
Applications :
1.Polymerization Initiator: 2,2'-Azobis(2,4-dimethyl)valeronitrile is mainly used in bulk polymerization, suspension polymerization and solution polymerization, such as in the production of polyvinyl chloride, polyacrylonitrile, polyvinyl alcohol and polymethyl methacrylate.
2.Foaming Agent: ABVN can also be used as a foaming agent for rubber and plastics. During the decomposition process, gas is released, which causes the rubber or plastic to form pores and achieve a foaming effect.
