CAS 100-97-0 Methenamine or Hexamethylenetetramine , also known as Hexamine, is a white crystalline powder that is widely used as a fuel, a reagent in organic synthesis, and a curing agent in phenolic resins. It is a stable and versatile compound that is easy to handle and store.
Methenamine or Hexamethylenetetramine uses:
- Curing agents, catalysts and foaming agents for amino plastics
- Used as rubber vulcanization accelerator
- Textile shrinkage inhibitor
- Phosgene absorber (mixed with sodium phenol and sodium hydroxide for gas masks)
- Used in the manufacture of pesticides, which can be treated by nitro explosives
- Used in the pharmaceutical industry as a urinary disinfectant and diuretic ingredient, in the treatment of ringworm and as a topical antiperspirant
- Also used in the determination of Bi, Mn, Co, Pt, Mg, Li, Cu, indium, thorium, beryllium, tellurium, bromide, iodide and other reagents and chromatographic reagents.
