Propyl acetate, also known as n-propyl acetate, is a colorless, transparent liquid with a soft fruity aroma. It is often used in organic synthesis. n-propyl acetate is used as a solvent for paints, printing inks, etc. It is also often used as an industrial dehydrating agent.
Application of N-Propyl Acetate (NPAC):
1. Solvent for paint and ink, pharmaceutical extractant, and fragrance; used as an azeotrope for acetic acid recovery in industry.
2. It has excellent solubility in a variety of synthetic resins and is an effective solvent for many synthetic resins, such as ethyl cellulose, nitrocellulose, styrene, methacrylate resin, etc.
3. Commonly used in organic synthesis, as a solvent for coatings, printing inks, etc., and is also a commonly used dehydrating agent in industry; propyl acetate is a mild, fast-drying desiccant used for elastic printing inks and gravure printing inks, especially in olefin reduction and polyamide film printing.
4. It is also used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, chlorinated rubber, and heat-reactive phenolic plastics.
