Products Description
CAS 298-12-4 Glyoxylic Acid is colorless or light yellow liquid, miscible with water, slightly soluble in ethanol and ether, insoluble in esters, aromatic solvents. The solution is very unstable in air but will not deteriorate. Glyoxylic Acid exists in hydrated form in aqueous solution and is corrosive.
Uses of Glyoxylic Acid:
Used as raw material for the production of methyl vanillin and ethyl vanillin in the flavor industry.
Used in the pharmaceutical industry as an intermediate for the anti-hypertensive drug atenolol, L-hydroxyphenylglycine, broad-spectrum antibiotics (oral), acetophenone, synthetic amino acids and other compounds.
It is a raw material for varnishes, dyes, plastics and pesticide intermediates.
It can also be used to produce allantoin, which is an intermediate for anti-ulcer drug products and daily chemicals.
