What is Pentaerythritol CAS 115-77-5?
Pentaerythritol is a tetrol that is neopentane in which one of the methyl hydrogens of all four methyl groups are replaced by hydroxy groups. It is a chemical intermediate used in the production of explosives, plastics, paints, appliances, and cosmetics.
Applications：
- Coating industry: Pentaerythritol is an important raw material for the production of alkyd resin coatings, polyester coatings, polyurethane coatings and so on.
- Plastics industry: As the raw material of plasticiser and stabiliser, it can improve the flexibility, heat resistance and aging resistance of plastics.
- Explosives industry: It is the main raw material for manufacturing pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN).
- Other fields: Pentaerythritol is also used in ink, spices, electronic chemicals and other industries. For example, it is used as solvent and auxiliary in ink, which can improve the printing performance and drying speed of ink; it is used to synthesise certain spice compounds in spices; and it is used to manufacture encapsulation materials for electronic components in electronic chemicals.
