Uses
- Organic synthesis intermediates: Dimethyl carbonate can be used in the synthesis of polycarbonate, diphenyl carbonate, isocyanate and other compounds.
- Solvent: With excellent solvency properties, low toxicity, high flash point, low vapour pressure, etc., it can replace Freon, trichloroethane, benzene, xylene, etc., and is used in paints and coatings and the pharmaceutical industry.
- Gasoline additives: Dimethyl carbonate has high oxygen content, excellent octane raising effect, and can reduce hydrocarbons, monoxide, etc. in the exhaust gas of automobiles. It can reduce the total emission of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and formaldehyde in automobile tailpipe.
