What is Diethanolamine (DEA)?
Diethanolamine is a colorless liquid, hygroscopic, soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, acetone and benzene. It can be used as a gas purifying agent to absorb acid gases in gases, such as carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide. DEA is also used as emulsifier, lubricant, shampoo, thickener, etc.; it is an organic synthesis intermediate, used in the production of detergent raw materials, preservatives and daily-use chemical products (such as surfactants).

1.Diethanolamine is used as an emulsifier, pH adjuster, and stabilizer in creams, lotions, shampoos, and other products. It helps in formulating stable emulsions and controlling the acidity or alkalinity of the product.
2.Diethanolamine is added to detergents to improve their cleaning performance.It can act as a builder and an emulsifier in these formulations.
3. In the oil and gas industry, it is used in gas scrubbing processes to remove acidic gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from natural gas and other industrial gases.
4. DEA is used as an additive in lubricating oils to improve their anti-corrosion and anti-wear properties.
