What is Butyldiglycol BDG Solvent?
Butyldiglycol (BDG) also known as Diethylene glycol butyl ether(DGBE) ;2-(2-Butoxyethoxy)ethanol. It is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H1803, which is miscible with water in any proportion, and soluble in ethanol, ethyl ether, oil and many other organic solvents. Usually used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, varnish, printing ink, oil, resin, etc., and as an intermediate for synthetic plastics.
Applications of BDG Solvent：
1.Solvent: Butyldiglycol is a good high boiling point solvent, mainly used as a solvent for paints, dyes, resins, nitrocellulose, inks, and oils.
2.Chemical Intermediate: BDG is used as an intermediate for plasticizers and in the synthesis of diethylene glycol monobutyl ether acetate, diethylene glycol dibutyl ether.
3.Cleaning Agent: Diethylene glycol butyl ether (DGBE) is used in metal surface treatment as a metal cleaning agent to remove oil, paint, and other contaminants.
4.Other Applications: In the textile industry, it is used as a wetting - out solution and fiber wetting agent. In the printing industry, it is used as a solvent in lacquers, paints, and printing inks. It is also used as a diluent for hydraulic brake fluids, a mutual solvent for soap, oil, and water in household cleaners, and an additive in jet fuel.
