Caprylic acid is colorless transparent liquid. It is slightly soluble in hot water and soluble in most organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, chloroform, benzene, carbon disulfide, petroleum ether and glacial acetic acid.
Caprylic acid (Octanoic acid) uses:
1. Used in the manufacture of dyestuffs, spices and so on.
2. Also used as plasticizer, lubricant, anticorrosive agent, antirust agent, fungicide, corrosion inhibitor, foaming agent and defoamer, also used for ore separation.
3. Used in oil-in-water and water-in-oil creams, lotions, bath oils, skin oils, shampoos, lipsticks and other aerosol products with high alcohol content.
4. Used as preservative for meat products and fast food etc.
