Ammonium formate is a colorless crystalline or powdery compound. Has a pungent odor and is easily soluble in water. It is reductive and can react violently with oxidizing agents It can be used as a sensitizer and buffer in textile, leather and rubber industries. In agriculture, ammonium formate can be used as nitrogen fertilizer to promote plant growth.
