Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), also known as tert-butyl methyl ether, is an organic compound with a structural formula (CH3)3COCH3. MTBE is a volatile, flammable, and colorless liquid that is sparingly soluble in water. Primarily used as a fuel additive, MTBE is blended into gasoline to increase its octane rating and knock resistance, and reduce unwanted emissions.It is mainly used as a gasoline additive and solvent.
Application of High Purity Colorless Transparent MTBE:
MTBE Methyl tert-butyl ether has strong resistance to auto-oxidation, not easy to generate peroxide, mainly for refineries for high-octane gasoline blending agent, can also be used as paraffin, oils, spices, alkaloids, resins, rubber solvents, organic synthesis reactants. When used as octane improver of gasoline, it can increase the oxygen content of gasoline, but also promote clean combustion and reduce the pollution of harmful emissions from automobiles.
