What is Decyl Glucoside?
Decyl glucoside also known as Alkyl polyglucoside APG, is a mild surfactant that is commonly used in personal care products. It is a derivative of decyl alcohol, which is derived from coconut or palm kernel oil. Decyl glucoside is often used in shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers, and other personal care products. APG is used to enhance the foam and lathering properties of these products.
Applications：
Decyl glucoside is primarily used for its surfactant (cleansing) properties. While most common in facial and body cleansers, you can also find it in products such as self-tanners, sunscreens, and liquid foundations where it may function as an emulsion stabiliser. APG is obtained from the condensation of glucose + the fatty alcohol decanol, which comes from coconuts. Its mildness makes it popular for use in baby shampoos. This ingredient is known for producing desirable foaming properties.
