What is 99% Oleic Acid CAS 112-80-1?
Oleic Acid is a water insoluble hydrophobic compound with unsaturated double chain. It is light yellow transparent oily liquid at room temperature, melting point 13.4ºC, specific gravity 0.8905, insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, gasoline and other organic solvents, after hydrogenation, it becomes stearic acid, and it has the general chemical properties of organic carboxylic acid.
Applications:
1. Oleic acid is present in the normal human diet as part of animal fats and vegetable oils.
2. As its sodium salt, is the main component of emulsifiers in soaps.
3. Oleic acid is also used as an emollient.
4. It is used as an emulsifier or solubilizer in aerosol products.
5. It is also used to induce lung damage in certain types of animals to test new drugs and other methods of treating lung diseases.
