Properties of Salicylic Acid Powder
Flammable. Low toxicity. Stable in air, but gradually change color when exposed to light. Melting point 159°C. Relative density 1.443. Relative density 1.443. Boiling point 211℃. Sublimation at 76℃. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in acetone, turpentine, ethanol, ether, benzene and chloroform. Its aqueous solution shows acidic reaction.
Uses of Salicylic acid
Salicylic acid is an important organic synthetic raw material, widely used in medicine, pesticides, rubber, dyes, food and spice industry.
1.In the pharmaceutical industry, It is used in the production of the main drugs are sodium salicylate, wintergreen oil (methyl salicylate), aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), salicylic acid, amine, salicylic acid, phenyl ester and so on.
2.In the dyestuff industry, it is used in the production of mordant pure yellow, direct yellow 3GN, direct yellow GR, direct brown 3GN, acid mordant brown G, acid mordant yellow GG, acid complex yellow and other dyes.
3.In the production of pesticides, it is used in the synthesis of organophosphorus insecticide methamidophos, isopropyl salicylate intermediate of methyl isoflurane and rodenticide rodenticide.
4.In the rubber industry as a coking agent and the production of ultraviolet absorbers and foaming agents.
5.Raw material of spices, preparation of methyl salicylate, ethyl salicylate, etc.
