o-xylene uses in industry
1. Phthalic Anhydride Production (Main Uses)
O-Xylene is a key raw material for the production of phthalic anhydride. Phthalic anhydride can be further processed into phthalate plasticizers, imparting flexibility and durability to polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products.
2. Chemical Intermediate
In the chemical industry, o-xylene is an intermediate in the production of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), dyes, and pharmaceuticals.
3. Industrial Solvent and Diluent
Due to its slow evaporation rate, o-xylene is widely used as a solvent in the production of paints, varnishes, coatings, and finishes.
