What is Propylene glycol (PG) CAS 57-55-6?
1,2-Propanediol, also known as propylene glycol or Propane-1,2-diol, is a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid. Propylene glycol is a water-soluble organic compound that can dissolve many organic solvents such as ethers and alcohols, and it has low toxicity. PG is the raw material of unsaturated polyester resin, epoxy resin, polyurethane resin, and also the raw material of plasticizer, surfactant, emulsifier and emulsion breaker. In the food industry, it is used as a solvent for flavor and food coloring, and also as an antifreeze and food machinery lubricant.
