Dimethylsulfonium Chloride DMPT also known as (2-Carboxyethyl)dimethylsulfonium chloride, Dimethyl-Beta-Propiothetin, is an organic compound which has a solid form of colourless crystals. It is easily soluble in water and soluble in polar organic solvents. DMPT powder is mainly used as animal nutritional supplements and plant growth regulators. As a plant growth regulator, it promotes crop growth and development, and increases yield and quality.
Applications：
Aquaculture and fisheries: Dimethylsulfonium chloride is used as a feed additive to enhance the appetite and growth of fish, shrimp and other aquatic animals.
Agriculture: sometimes DMPT powder is added to livestock feed as a source of sulphur or as a growth promoter (but less common than in aquaculture).
Chemical synthesis: a sulfonium salt used in organic synthesis to introduce methylthio or sulfonium groups. DMPT can be used as a reagent in alkylation or sulphurisation reactions.
