What is Dioctyl phthalate CAS 117-84-0?
Dioctyl phthalate (DOP) is a colourless transparent oily liquid at room temperature, without special smell, with good solubility, miscible with most organic solvents, almost insoluble in water. It is relatively stable chemically and is not easy to decompose under normal environment. But under the action of catalyst, it can have ester exchange reaction with other alcohols or amines to change the molecular structure. It is flammable and will burn when exposed to open flame and high heat, but the burning speed is relatively slow.
Applications：
- Plastics industry: Dioctyl phthalate is one of the most commonly used plasticizers in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics. It can make the flexibility, plasticity and processing performance of PVC plastics significantly improved.
