Uses

• Synthetic Fibre: Acrylonitrile is the main raw material for the manufacture of polyacrylonitrile fibre (acrylic). Acrylic has properties similar to wool and is widely used in the textile industry.
• Synthetic rubber: It can be copolymerised with butadiene to produce nitrile rubber.
• Plastic: Acrylonitrile is copolymerised with styrene, butadiene and other monomers to form engineering plastics such as ABS resin.
• Other fields: It can also be used to prepare adiponitrile, and then synthesise nylon 66; it is also used in adhesives, coatings and other products to improve product performance.
