Potassium hexacyanoferrate(II) trihydrate is soluble in water and insoluble in organic solvents. It has good thermal stability and can be stabilized at high temperature; it has poor light stability and is easily decomposed by light irradiation; in humid air, it will absorb moisture and gradually decompose.
Potassium ferrocyanide trihyrate is mainly used in the laboratory as an analytical reagent, but also used as a metal corrosion inhibitor in the petroleum industry, a dye auxiliary and oxidizing agent in the textile industry, and a tanning agent in the tanning industry.
