Properties
Sodium Tetraphenylboron is colorless or white crystal. Slightly hygroscopic. Soluble in water, acetone, acetonitrile, dimethylformamide, the lower the temperature, the greater the solubility. Insoluble in benzene, carbon tetrachloride. Precipitate with potassium, rubidium, cesium, silver, mercury salts. Generate insoluble precipitate with organic alkali. Easily decomposed in aqueous solution, generally more stable at pH 8-9 or 5-6.
Uses of Sodium Tetraphenylboron
1. Used for the current titration for amines, quaternary ammonium compounds and potassium
2. Used as a titrant for amines and NH4Cl in the presence of a potassium selective electrode
3. Used as precipitation reagents for K, Pb, Cs, NH4 and alkaloid
4. Used to prepare stable crystalline N-amide salt ion exchange;
5. Used to make arylene and biaryl compoundwith a vinyl or aryl triflate.
