What is Praziquantel?
Praziquantel is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic with significant deworming effect especially against trematode and tapeworm parasites. It works by acting on the cell membrane of the parasite, causing a loss of control of calcium ion channels, leading to paralysis and rapid death of the parasite, which is subsequently excreted by the host organism. Praziquantel has strong anthelmintic effect on both adult worms and larvae, and especially has good therapeutic effect on tapeworms and trematodes in cattle, sheep, dogs and other animals.
