Enrofloxacin Injection for Swine
Indications
1. Respiratory tract infections
Enrofloxacin is commonly used to treat respiratory diseases in pigs such as Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida and Haemophilus parasuis, which are common pathogens causing pneumonia and other respiratory diseases. It is particularly effective in controlling swine respiratory disease (SRD) .
2. Gastrointestinal infections
It is used to treat bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal tract, such as colibacillosis caused by E. coli. This can cause diarrhea and other digestive problems, especially in weaned piglets.
3. Urinary tract infections

Enrofloxacin is used to treat septicemia and other systemic infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
5. Joint and skin infections
In some cases, enrofloxacin can be used to treat skin and joint infections caused by opportunistic bacteria, such as arthritis or abscesses.


Usage and dosage of Enrofloxacin
Intramuscular injection: one dose of 0.025 ml per kg body weight of pig.
Use 1~2 times a day for 2~3 days.
Adverse reactions
1. Degeneration of cartilage in young animals, affecting bone development and causing lameness and pain.
2. Reactions of digestive system include vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea and so on.
3. Skin reactions include erythema, itching, urticaria and photosensitivity reaction, etc.

Precautions
1. It has potential excitatory effect on the central system, inducing seizures, and should be used with caution for those suffering from epilepsy.
2, carnivorous animals and renal dysfunction affected animals with caution, may occasionally crystalluria.
3. This product is not applicable to horses. Intramuscular injection has a transient irritation.
4. The drug-resistant strains of this product are increasing, should not be used in subtherapeutic dose for a long time.
