injection dose: usually based on the weight of the cattle.

The recommended dose is 200 micrograms of ivermectin per kilogram of body weight.

Injection method: Ivermectin is intended for subcutaneous injection only to minimize the risk of potentially fatal clostridial infections at the injection site. Precautions

1. Use sterile equipment and disinfect the injection site with an appropriate disinfectant.

2. Clean, properly sterilized needles should be used to minimize the possibility of infection at the injection site.

Side effects and management

1.Some cattle have experienced transient discomfort following subcutaneous injections. Soft tissue swelling occurs at the injection site, but the incidence is low. These reactions resolve without treatment.

2.Doses greater than 10 mL should be administered in two injections to minimize occasional discomfort or site reactions.

3.Observe cattle for injection site reactions. Reactions may be due to Clostridium difficile infection and should be treated aggressively with appropriate antibiotics. Consult your veterinarian if injection site infection is suspected.
