What is ?
1,2-Dichloroethane is a colourless transparent liquid, miscible with ethanol, ether and other organic solvents, soluble in about 120 parts of water. Its vapour and air can form explosive mixture, which can cause combustion or even explosion when exposed to open flame or high heat, and release toxic gas. It reacts with oxidising agents.
Applications：
- Chemical raw material: 1,2-Dichloroethane is an important raw material for the production of vinyl chloride, and can also be used in the preparation of ethylenediamine, ethylene glycol and other organic compounds, which has an important position in the organic synthesis industry.
- Solvent: DCE can be used as solvent in paint, ink, adhesive and other industries. In the pharmaceutical industry, 1,2-Dichloroethane is used as a solvent for the extraction and synthesis of drug intermediates.
- Other applications: 1,2-dichloroethane can be used as metal surface treatment agent to remove oil and impurities on metal surface. In agriculture, it can be used as a fumigant to control pests and rodents.
