What is 2-Ethylhexyl Methacrylate CAS 688-84-6?
2-Ethylhexyl Methacrylate is a colorless or light yellow liquid with low vapor pressure and volatility; it is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols and ethers. Methacrylic acid-2-ethylhexyl ester is often used as crosslinking agents and plasticizers; it has good adhesion and temperature resistance, and it is suitable for coatings, adhesives, textiles, paints, and plastics, etc.; EHMA is also used in rubber products, oil well cement and polymer modification. Uses:
1. 2-Ethylhexyl Methacrylate can be used in the manufacture of high solid coatings, acrylate emulsion paints, polyurethane coatings, etc. It is widely used in the coating of construction, automobile, furniture and other fields.
2. EHMA is an important monomer for the preparation of pressure-sensitive adhesives, structural adhesives and other adhesives, suitable for bonding of various materials, such as plastics, rubber, metal, wood and so on.
3. As a copolymer monomer used in the production of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and other plastics, can adjust the performance of plastics, can also be used in the manufacture of acrylate copolymer plastics, used in the production of optical lenses, tubes, plates and other plastic products.
4. Widely used in offset printing ink, gravure printing ink, silk screen printing ink and so on.
5.Methacrylic acid-2-ethylhexyl ester can be used as the raw material of textile finishing agent, used in the production of waterproof, oil-proof, antifouling finishing agent, as well as softener, antistatic agent.
